THE SUMMIT

“You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one see, one descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.” -Rene Daumal

Don't you love that 'knowing' and how it helps us climb the path to the next summit. The toil of getting to the summit is worth every effort, and somehow transforms the Vallie's and the hillsides into their own kind of paradise, even if for some seemingly long seasons, they appeared barren desert.

I love the pics, i feel peace just looking at them. I am too tired to try to understand what it all means but I later on I will come back and have some thought provoking moment. Love ya!

I appreciate the inspiring words. It's so true--we can't appreciate being on the summit without the long climb to get there and the valleys that come in between. After those ups and downs, being on top is especially sweet!

I had this quote on my wall in college all 4 years. So true - so true. The climb is so dang hard sometimes, but it sure does give us perspective when we get to the top. Thanks for the reminder
